    Great Schism refers to:

    a. a religious divide between Eastern and Western Europe

    From 1378 to 1417, the Roman Catholic church has disagreements between rival popes at Avignon and Rome which was popularly known as Schism of the West. Worse, there was even separation between the Eastern and Western churches known as Schism of the East dated 1054.
