"Since the holiday sale has begun today," said Sarah, "I will go shopping." and "Sales during holiday hours have been extended," said Sarah. "I will go shopping." use correct punctuation. When a sentence continues and the speech tag is in the middle, a comma is used at the end of the first set of speech marks. Additionally, speech marks only enclose what is actually said.
