I would say have a MLA format paper to back up your story, not so much put all your citations in your story but have the MLA to just let your readers know where you got your sources from.

To provide in-text citations, you should put parentheses at the end of the quote and write the name of the author and the page number from where it's from. In your reference page, you should add the name of the story and the publication, so people can find it and see the citation from there. If you don't do this, you can get accused of plagiarizing.
