Raymond Carver was the American writer, and he wrote just short stories and poems. He is considered by many to be the minimalist. The main influences on his writing style was made by writers such as Anthon P. Chekhov, James Joyce (with his early stories), Ernest Hemingway, etc. and its characteristics are brevity, short sentences and concentration on everyday problems of ordinary people from the lower middle class. Nonetheless, Carver did not like to be called minimalist, and, moreover, rejected any kind of classification. His work was also refereed too as dirty realism.
