"To produce this material it is required more carbon dioxide than is emitted during its manufacture."

    The grammatically correct way to write this sentence would be:

    "More carbon dioxide is required to produce this material, than it is emitted during its manufacture."

    I am not sure about the truthfulness of the content, just of the grammar.
