Chapters 9-10:

Immediately after the rumble begins, Pony says that he doesn't hate the Socs anymore. Why, then, does he proceed to attack the Socs and not just defend himself?

    I think it's an opinion-based question, so I will give you mine.

    Pony proceeds to attack because he feels like Johnny had to sacrifice his life for others. His feelings shatter like a glass that has been filled to it's limits.

    I honestly forgot since my teacher has moved on from this unit, but I've done my best.
