    The fact is Yolanda's mother did stand up to her father but for which reason I am not 100% sure. I think the answer is

    D. Her mother stands up to her husband because she thinks the speech is quite appropriate in America

    because Yolanda's father want her to integrate into American society, but also wants her to respect her Dominican heritage.
