    It could be said that the correct option is B, both men were his superior for a time in different moments of his life. Firstly, it was Covey, who seemed to be willing to 'break’ Douglass free but he ended up becoming him brutish and tired. They had a huge fight and after that, Covey did not touch him again. Then, he was rented by Freeland for 2 years. Douglass stated education other slaves until one day he was betrayed and he was taken to jail.
