Author Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." Do you agree or disagree with Emerson's statement about individuality? why?

    This is an opinionated question, so I will give my own opinion, which may differ from others.

    On a personal note, I do agree with Emerson's statement on individuality. A world that would not have you as you are, but as someone else, is a terrible thing. A thing that some might not even notice are all around them. Pressure to change could come from anywhere and everywhere all at once, and by those most closest to us.

    Individuality is a precious thing. We are born as we are, and if we should change, it should be a personal choice, not because we are being made to change. So, yes, it is a great accomplishment. It is an accomplishment of holding onto to what you are, and rising to a world that would not have you.
