The hypocrites' sin fits their eternal punishment because A. their beautiful but heavy lead cloaks suggest that they lived a good life from the outside but were evil on the inside.

While they were still alive, they behaved differently than they felt - so they wanted to appear to others that they were good people, when in fact they were evil. So now, when they are dead and their souls are in Hell, they are made to wear these very heavy cloaks that are extremely pretty to look at, but so heavy that they can barely walk and they have to wear them forever for their sins.
