    I agree with the person above - an essay is indeed C. a type of nonfiction writing in which the author makes deliberate style, structure, and diction choices to support a thesis.

    You can easily deduce that A and B are incorrect, because an essay is not fiction, and it is not poetic. D is also incorrect because an essay is not completely factual - the whole sentence is incorrect.
