Fireside chats refer to the informal, conversational, and comforting speeches that President Roosevelt gave to the public from March 1933 to June 1944.

Though he has been given copies of his speeches made by speech writers, he always have something to add and revise. He reads his speeches out loud until he has familiarized himself with the content and context, thus, enabling him to address the public in a genuine manner.
