Richard Connell uses personification often in his short story "The Most Dangerous Game." Which line from this excerpt is an example of personification?

1 - "I have played the fox, now I must play the cat of the fable."

2 - But perhaps the general was a devil--

3 - sleep did not visit Rainsford

4 - coming by the same winding way Rainsford had come

5 - He paused, almost beneath the tree, dropped to his knees and studied the ground.

    Personification is giving human characteristics to a nonhuman object. #3 seems like the best choice. Saying sleep did not visit Rainsford is giving sleep the human characteristic of visiting. (Like people do)
