How does Beowulf feel after he defeats Grendel?

    By process of elimination, he would either feel Victorious because he defeated someone who was [probably] their lifelong enemy, or Ashamed because they didn't want to fight with this person.

    But by the wording, "defeat" I'd say victorious, but then again you should read the prompt/essay/story.
