Rome had a rough time during the civil war and they have been tired about it. They wanted someone who is capable of unifying the government and would give them order. Julius Caesar was an able reformer as well as a capable general and gifted orator. He designed the Julian calendar, built temples, promoted people of the lower classes, and opened the Legions to more people than ever before. He also resolved the problems with Egypt which meant more grain for Rome. He was really not the king, but rather as a dictator with the privileges of a king.
