    The correct answer is Odysseus trucking polythemus and escaping

    He knew that Polythemus was a giant and thus much stronger than him and that he couldn't defeat him, so he tricked him and managed to escape without punishment. However, he became too proud of himself so he ended up getting retribution in the form of Poseidon.
