Quick grammar question?

I have to quote this sentence in my essay:

It seemed that the last time he had gone to a party where he had been promised "new faces," there had been fifteen people in the room, and he had already slept with five of the women and owed money to all but two of the men.

The "new faces" bit is throwing me off, because of the quotation marks - I already have put quotation marks around the sentence.

Should I write it like:

"It seemed that the last time he had gone to a party where he had been promised 'new faces,' there had been fifteen people in the room, and he had already slept with five of the women and owed money to all but two of the men."

One's not really supposed to change anything in a quote, so I don't know if the change from (") to (') is right.

You only use quotes when you are citing something. If you're citing it, you should write exactly how you see it.
