What is the link between polygamy and the dawn of agriculture?

Before the development of agriculture, polygamy was rampant because there were no boundaries at the time. People can very much do what they wanted but when people began to learn how to farm and raise animals, there were now restrictions as to who you can be with and what belonged to you.
