What can be inferred about how the Maori feel about the land they live on?

The Maori people’s origins are from the Polynesian cultures. Their connection to the land and to the living is based on the concepts of the spirit, that all things living are sacred and important. Their practices remained until the arrival of the Europeans where most of their religion and mythology were superseded by Christianity.
