Which of these statements from the passage best supports the main idea? A But when he saw what was there, a thundercloud seemed to cross his face. B "Put him in the dungeon until Sir Harold decides his fate," the man in scarlet said sharply. C Thomas stood to leave, but the fledgling gave a cry that cut to his core-and he knew he had no choice. D "Poaching his lordship's rabbits, are you?" growled the deep voice of Sir Harold's game warden, as he reached for the bundle under Thomas's arm.

Hmm. I would have to say D, because it supports or gives reasons for the other statements. Why was there an expression on his face? Why was he crying? Why was he being put into the Dungeon?

Answer: D. He was poaching Rabbits.
