Why does catherine die in wuthering heights?

    Catherine dies from numerous things, she had been starving herself while pregnant with Catherine jr., so she was weak from this. she had contracted a cold while walking around in a storm, looking for Heathcliff, because she was slightly mad. Those, combined with childbirth killed Cathy. The stress of giving birth, plus the previous illness was too much for her body to handle.
