The poem "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard" is an elegy in name but not in form. The whole style and theme of the poem is like of that contemporary odes. It also embodies the meditation on death and as well as the remembrance of death. The trees, beetles, flower, pastures are talking about life. These dispels the word "grave" from mentioning about it. Sunset on the other hand symbolizes the end.
