This question is the same with with the question ID#985068. If this is definitely the same, my answer would be that the author is making a book on a secondary source. Why?

Secondary sources are sources based on established historical facts. It is clearly stated here that the author has made a book (source) based on maps and diary entries of Columbus and his crew on their journeys of exploration (a historical fact).
