While Bell gets all the credit for inventing the telephone, it was actually Antonio Mueci who first invented the telephone, first tried out in Cuba while Bell was still a small child. In a court case though about patents on the telephone the judge said Antonio only had a mechancical telephone not an electrical one, though historically he was described as having an electrical transmission in the trial in Cuba.
