    I believe that the excerpt from Tom Sawyer that allows the reader to infer the time of year is the following one:

    She went to the open door and stood in it and looked out among the tomato vines and "jimpson" weeds that constituted the garden.

    I believe this should be the correct answer because both tomatoes and jimson weed flower in the summer, so that would be the time of the year when this event is taking place.
