While the bears certainly are in trouble, there are many papers that show that they will not just go extinct. There are many areas where the warming has actually led to a replacement of ice, from a multilayered thick one to a smaller one where the seals are found more and more. Bears in this area thrive and are better than ever. The number of bears is pretty high and they mostly adapt to the situation so their extinction is not a certainty.
