Why do the main characters take the names prometheus and gaea? explain. why weren't they allowed to choose their names in their old society? why is this important to equality?

In their old society, the main characters were not allowed to make any choices or do anything that would make them be individual, which is why choosing their own names was so important. They chose their names because Prometheus gave light to the people, and Gaea was mother to all of the gods. This is important to Equality because in his life, has broken many rules but has not yet been caught of pushished for any of them.
