But Helen was ill at present: for some weeks she had been removed from my sight to I knew not what room upstairs. (Jane Eyre; Chapter 9, p. 52) What does the excerpt above suggest? Jane has shifted her attention away from Helen. Jane does not want to see Helen sick. Jane no longer cares about Helen. Jane is not allowed to see Helen.
