    In a play, soliloquy is the act of speaking one's thoughts when by oneself or regardless of others present. It certainly is important to many major plays, because in a play you don't get to just read that "He thought, this is going to be difficult." The way to provide this context is with soliloquy. It provides information to readers about the character or characters' thoughts and beliefs when they are unclear.
