    B. Prospero tells Miranda the story of how they ended up on the island.

In all the years of being on the island, Miranda had never been told the story of how and why she and Prospero got there. Because she sees the boat sinking in the ocean and is upset, Prospero thinks it's finally time to tell her about their past.
