In "The Invalid's Story," Thompson gives a long speech about the fact that death is inevitable for all human beings. Why do you think Twain includes this long speech?

    The story is making fun of the way people fear death. The smelly cheese was enough for Thompson to lose control of his common sense. People become gullible when they are afraid and because all people will die eventually there is no reason to fear death.
