    Yes, this is what should be done making sure that the abuse has occurred or happened already before you report to your elders and to the police. Anyone cannot predict abuse to happen so it impossible that someone could report an incident which is not yet happening in the real life. It must be confirmed first then report will follow or else you will become liable on your words.
