Iago is a mysterious character, so much he tries to get rid of her although "working with Rodrigo (who loves Desdemona)." Plus since his wife is kind of a loon, and finds out what happens near the end (trying not to inset spoilers). So, to try and get rid of her, Iago says his wife is good a deceiving, because he hints at the end as well.
