    The author used concrete foreshadowing.

Arachne is depicted as conceited and she challenged Athene in a competition of who weaves better. In this scene, Athene weaved a scene showing the horrible fate of mortals after trying to fight with the gods. Later on in the story after Arachne has been turned into a spider, she challenged Athene again, claiming to be better in weaving. When Athene has insulted her, she hanged herself. Her death is the horrible fate she suffered after fighting with the god Athene.
