How do Dexter's views about the American dream change from the beginning to the end of the story "Winter Dreams"?

    It might be said that Dexter is disillusioned about it. He used to believed that happiness could be attained through gain and want. Bue he ends up being let down as his vision of the "American Dream" faded away. He found emptiness when achieving the dream.
