    supernatural elements and mysterious settings

Gothic literature is not positive. It has gloomy settings, misshapen people, and dark internal conflicts. Options 1 and 3 are not indicative of the gothic genre. In the ghost story from the selection, there is the mention of a ghost which is a supernatural element. The setting is also described as a gloomy avenue with shadows - mysterious!
