The state does now do enough to prevent distracted drivers. The state could make it illegal to text and drive or be on the phone at all and require police to pull over and ticket anyone on the phone. The state could also require people who get more than 2 tickets because of distracted driving to go to court. While yes, not all distracted drivers cause accidents, it is still unsafe. Kids could reconsidered a distraction but we can't stop parents from driving around their children. In conclusion, distractions like a phone, should be considered illegal and taken seriously.
