As I approached the bend in Bledsoe Creek, I could already hear the dump trucks from a quarter-mile away. When I came out onto the banks of the creek, there were hundreds of plastic bags caught in tree branches, fluttering noisily in the breeze. Great waves of scavenger birds rose and fell as huge front-end loaders pushed the piles from the trucks down into the pit. And the smell - you can't imagine the stench that came from that place.
