    Leucothea was once a creature woman whose name was Ino who was range into a sea-nymph by the gods. When she became a sea-nymph, Ino started to be called Leucothea. In book 5 when Poseidon realizes that Odysseus escaped Calypso" island he sends a ponderous storm to Odysseus.

    Odysseus struggles to stay afloat on his raft during the storm. Leucothea sees Odysseus in pities him so Leucothea gives him a scarf that will prelude pain or death from happening to Odysseus. Leucothea tells Odysseus that he will go to the Phaeacian island where he will be safe and that once he sphere the island he can just toss the scarf into the sea and she will get it back again.
