Santiago, who has been living a successful life as a musician in Paris for many years, is suddenly called back to his home in the United States to attend his father's funeral. He is nervous about returning home but tries to conceal his anxiety from his wife and son. On the plane, Santiago remembers the last time he returned to the United States. Closing his eyes, he sees himself running away from the mugger who confronted him on his way back to his hotel.
