What were the effects the Great Chicago Fire had on the town's residents? (for an essay)

    Over 100 people died and over 50 people lost their familes. and houses

    Lots of homes, hotels, stores, newspapers, and government offices were destroyed. About 300 people were killed. It was also rumored that the fire happened by Mrs. O'Leary's cow started the fire because it kicked over a lantern, which was probably not true. People still believe it today.
