In the story, Magdalena wants to learn to paint like her father, but it isn't something that women do in seventeenth century society. Women are not seen in society and throughout the story that is all Magdalena wants is her father to pay attention to her. This desire to be seen is also shown when she marries the first man who pays attention to her. The answer to the question is B.
