The innermost planets, Mercury and Venus, are too hot to support life. Life as we know it needs water to survive and the searing temperatures and harsh conditions does not allow water to exist in a liquid state. The outermost planets are too far away from the sun and so would be too cold to support life. The outer most planets are also gas giants without solid surfaces or a crust.
