In the book Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury uses numerous examples of foreshadowing. The first time he uses it is when Montag is standing in the hallway of his house, talking to his wife, Mildred, about how she overdosed on sleeping pills. "he stood looking up at the air conditioning vent in the hall for a long time." this is an example of foreshadowing because later in the book, you find out that he has a stash of books hidden in the vent.

Another example of foreshadowing is when Montag goes over to the kennel where the mechanical Hound is kept and touches it’s muzzle. immediately the hound reacts by growling at Montag. when Montag goes to tell the fire captain that maybe someone set the mechanical hound to his specific amino acids, the Captain replies "Who would do a thing like that? ... You havn’t got any enemies here, Guy." and guy says "None that I know of." This is an example of foreshadowing because later in the book, Captain Beatty turns out to be Guy’s "enemy" when he finds out guy is stashing books in his house and makes guy burn the place down alone.

The third example of Foreshadowing that I found was when the Fire Captain was talking to Guy about how the Hound never misses it’s mark and Guy tells him "that’s why ... I wouldn’t want to be its next victim." Later on in the book the Hound ends up chasing him down after he kills the Captain. The Hound manages to inject guys leg and paralyze it for a little while but Guy kills it with the flamethrower before the Hound can kill him.
