I think the ill-fated characters would be Ekwefi and Ezinma. Ekwefi and Ezinma are ill-fated because of the obanje. The obanje had been the reason why most of Ekwefi's children die from childbirth. It is also the reason why Ezinma is dying. She was carrying the curse of the obanje
