    You're in Middle School? When I was in Middle School, we didn't talk about this poem at all. I'm going to give you an answer, but it may be faulty.

    Maybe the poem means the main character is in defeat because his lover is sick. Maybe he's showing his love for her and saying those are things he wishes to do.
