Loyalty to one's husband or wife is highly valued in many societies. Do you think Monsieur Loisel is a good example or a bad example of this loyalty? Why or why not? Give three examples of Guy de Maupassant's naturalistic style of presenting characters and plot and show why they are naturalistic. You will be graded on the following criteria: Clearly state your position and support it with evidence from "The Necklace." Use specific quotes. Make sure each paragraph contains one main idea and supporting details. Use complete sentences including compound and complex sentences. Include an introductory paragraph, proper transitions, and a conclusion. Make sure your essay contains no errors in conventions such as spelling or grammatical errors, and is at least 150 words long.

I believe he wasn't loyal, he should have stuck up and been straight with his wife, for her own good. He should have had her go to her friend and tell exactly what happened. I think the money that went for her new dress was loyalty but working on the debt for years and agreeing to letting her lie was not loyal at all.
