Review the second stanza of Roderick Usher's poem, specifically the last two lines: Along the ramparts plumed and pallid, A winged odor went away. What is the most likely explanation for the winged odor being kept away? The amazing beauty created equally amazing smells. The inhabitants did not need perfumes or scents Some flying creatures most foul were seen often. Something unpleasant was repelled by the beauty of the palace.
