Pocahontas was most likely born in Werawocomoco (what is now Wicomico, Gloucester County, Virginia) on the north side of the Pamaunkee (York) River, around the year 1595. Her true name was Matoaka, but that name was only used within her tribe.

The biographer did not personally know the subject which is "Pocahontas" basing on the given passage above. The biographer is not totally sure of where Pocahontas really came from basing on the words he used "most likely". Therefore, he might only got this from another source (e. g. book). For first hand biography, the biographer should witness the life of Pocahontas. On the other hand, autobiography is a written account that should have been written by Pocahontas herself.
