How does ones own body betray a person?

The body can make you do things without thinking like making faces.

When you want to go protect your friend by getting hit by someone but your body is frozen still. It's where you want to do a certain action but your body doesn't follow your command/wish and instead "betrays" you. I hope you can undertsand
